Finishing Touches
In this lesson we are going to:
Review animations and image effects
Learn how to adjust for mobile sizing
Do a final check before moving on
Before moving on to the next pages of a site, you want to do a final check to dot I's and cross t's. You don't want to have your website go live and then find out a button doesn't link to a vital salespage, or even worse, the button doesn't work - so they just leave your website!
The mobile sizing step is the most vital one in the final touches process. But adhering to a top-to-bottom protocol of a finished webpage is a goooood standard practice to hold yourself to.
Here are the things to check for and complete, before stepping into the next web pages:
What you should know after this step:
How to adjust your mobile sizing.
The dark truth of the footer glitch.
How to crosscheck and add links, effects, and animations.
Action Steps:
Complete mobile adjustments for your home page.
Create your own unique checklist for finishing touches, that you will run through on all your website pages as you complete them. For example, if your website uses text animation that this would be on your unique checklist to ensure you add that to each page of your site.
Final Thoughts:
Designing and finishing your home page is big deal! So once you have, please hear my beaming 'congratulations' ringing in your ears!
I'm not saying right this moment... by all mean, take a breath and have a cup of tea, etc...
But when you are ready to go forth and conquer, you are to use the same process of mapping out and design that we used on our home page, to do the other pages of your website. Lather, rinse, repeat. You can save any of the larger sales pages, but go ahead and work through the easier ones like about, contact or short-form pages. Home page was the big one, now you know the ropes and can proceed. Each page you work through, you will gain more confidence and smoother skill, your design eye will sharpen and your brand will emerge site-wide.
