Email Automations & Newsletters

In this lesson we are going to:

  • Explore SquareSpace email campaigns

  • Learn how to setup email automations

  • Discuss template and layout options for newsletters

Now that you know 'how' to setup your email campaigns, let's talk about why you might and some next steps you may want to take here.

  • Consider setting up a series of newsletters that will go out to those who signup for your mailings. This is a great idea for you, because these are folx that come to your website and decide that they'd like to keep hearing from you and know when you're doing something interesting. So use this opportunity to rollout more info about you, your brand and offerings. Even a series of 3 emails automations is a good. If not, consider a single email that goes out to them when they signup!

  • Another automation you may want to set up, is after they have purchased a single ticket offering, like a class or session. In this type of email you want to thank them for their purchase, include any needed info like location or what to wear/bring.

  • For larger offerings, like programs, retreats and session packages, consider setting up an automated series that starts when they first signup, then send them a series of emails (not too many) leading up to the start date.

  • And then the gold standard would be to consider writing a regular newsletter, which will help build you mailing list following, if you are offering content here that can't be found elsewhere or is a solid collection of content you do offer elsewhere, but in one gathered place, sitting properly in ones email inbox. Some clients like to hear from you this way and then you aren't swallowed whole by any social platform algorithm. The people that want to hear from you and get updates on what you're doing and offering, will.

Final Thoughts:

Email campaigns, automations and newsletters aren't everyones cup of tea and may not even make sense for your particular business. But I gently urge you to consider what email marketing might look like for you and your unique brand.

Consider if it could be a fun avenue for you to connect with your audience. Studies do show better results for email campaigns vs social platform campaigns when it comes to getting folx to sign up for your offerings. But just like with social media marketing, only make a plan that will work for you. You don't have to send something out every week. Maybe you write to your people every full moon, with your inspired thoughts (plus info about upcoming events at the bottom).

Find what works for you, then keep up the consistency.
